Electrical Sales, Repair & Maintenace - FAQs
Why do I need to call a Malek Electrician? Can’t I just repair it myself?
Unless you have experience as an electrician, it can be difficult to run wiring, to make sure it’s done correctly, and to make sure it’s safe. A live wire that isn’t capped or connected correctly is not just a matter of something not working, it could be a fire hazard for your home or business. By calling us you will get our experience and knowledge for your problem.
Why is there a need for repairs in my home? It was working fine before.
Wiring and connections wear out, just like any other part of your home or business. Your breaker could have been overloaded by use and we can reevaluate if you need to add to your box. A wire inside the walls could have contracted and need to be reconnected. Sometimes it is on the appliance end that a short is causing issues in your home.
I have always wanted an extra plug here or a lightswitch moved, is this something you can do?
Absolutely. Malek Electricians don’t have to come out for emergency repairs only. If you are looking to make your home or business work better for you, by making things more convenient or changing the layout, we can help. Call us and we can do a quick walkthrough of your residential or commercial space to see what you need.
If the rest of my neighborhood has power and I don’t, what should I do?
First check your breaker box, sometimes a circuit trips and this can be an easy fix to throw it back in place. If that doesn’t work, check again with your neighbors or power provider to see if they are having any issues on their end. Once you have confirmed it is isolated to your home, give us a call. We have electricians available to get your home or business working again.
WHAT IS SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY?
Home automation and smart home technology is exactly what it sounds like: automating the ability to control items around the house—from window shades to pet feeders—with a simple push of a button (or a voice command). Some activities, like setting up a lamp to turn on and off at your whim, are simple and relatively inexpensive. Others, like advanced surveillance cameras, may require a more specialized trained technician.
